Carpet can add warmth and color to your home or office!
But did you know that it can also result in fewer airborne allergens? Of course, this means that your carpeting — which acts as a giant filter catching and holding dander, bacteria and other pollutants — will require regular and thorough cleaning to keep it looking its best and maintain the healthy atmosphere of your surroundings. Your carpet and interior textiles play a foundational role in your decor and we want to help you maximize their life and keep them looking their best. We are all about professional cleaning, but just as importantly, we want to make sure our customers are armed with good, sound care information.
Sound Care Information and Tips
Some things, of course are common sense: clean up spills as quickly as possible, wipe your feet before entering the house, and so on. But did you know that all spills should be cleaned up using only water and a clean white cloth? Why? Because some cleaning agents work great on some stains, but can permanently set others. And a colored cloth offers the possibility of dye transfer from the cloth to the area you are attempting to clean.
You will find this information and much, much more in our free downloadable Carpet and Interior Textiles Care Guide (click the image to the right to download).
Knowing how to properly care for and protect your carpet and interior textiles between professional cleanings helps maximize the effectiveness of these cleanings and the life of your carpets and textiles.
The Benefit of Scheduled Regular Cleaning
With proper maintenance, a quality carpet can last for ten or more years, depending on its location.
But what is “proper maintenance”? Vacuuming is pretty much a no-brainer, but in addition to frequent vacuuming, it’s important to have your carpets professionally cleaned on a regular basis. Professional cleaning systems like those we use at MasterCare target the soils that result from cooking vapors, air pollution, and tracked-in dirt, removing the oily, sticky soil that vacuums can’t take out. If carpet is professionally deep-cleaned before it becomes too unsightly, this deep-cleaning be easier and more successful. Your day-to-day upkeep will also be more effective, because the oily, sticky grime is no longer present to grab and hold onto even more dirt. Carpet in a typical household should be cleaned every 12 to 18 months, depending on the number of residents and amount of activity.
We at MasterCare pride ourselves on giving your carpets and interior textiles the absolute best care possible. We will work out an ongoing maintenance schedule specifically suited to your requirements and budget.
About Cleaning Systems
Choosing the proper cleaning system is extremely important! Some systems may leave residues which accelerate re-soiling and defeats the whole purpose of cleaning.
Research indicates that the hot water extraction system provides the best capability for cleaning. This system is commonly referred to as “steam cleaning,” although no steam is actually generated. The process consists of applying a cleaning agent into the carpet pile and using water in the extractor to recover the used solution and soil. This can be done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose and wand brought inside or by a portable system brought into the home.
The warranties of many carpet manufacturers (including Shaw Floors, one of the largest and most respected flooring providers) require that the homeowner be able to show proof of periodic cleaning by hot water extraction using equipment that is certified under the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Seal of Approval program.
“But Couldn’t I Just Rent A Steamer?”
It is true, there are rental hot water extraction systems, but honestly (and not just because we’d love for you to call us) professional cleaning is the best choice. Professional cleaning equipment has more extraction power than the rental units available to individuals. This not only removes more deep-set dirt and grime, but also removes more of the water used to clean, enabling the carpet to dry more quickly. Well-educated professionals also know which cleaning agents are most appropriate for your unique situation, and are expert at recognizing the differences in fibers and carpet construction in order to maximize the results.
Your upholstered furniture, draperies and other interior textiles are a functional and beautiful way to bring your unique character to your environment. Consequently, you want them to retain their best appearance and usefulness for as long as possible. At MasterCare, this is our goal as well. We are devoted to your complete satisfaction with our services and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
